GRADY KING - MINISTER:
[EMAIL: gking@mansfieldchurch.org]
Grady returned to Mansfield in
August (2010) for the second time having served with us preaching
minister (1990-95).
He was born and raised in Oklahoma: Alva, Woodward and Eufaula,
graduating from High School in 1973. He is a 1977 graduate of Oklahoma
Christian (B.S.E.).
Regarding God’s call to ministry Grady says: “I
wanted to teach and coach because of the influence godly
educators had in my life. But prior to signing a teaching contract
and while serving as a summer youth intern, the elders in McAlester, OK
asked me to serve as their youth minister. I called the Superintendent
of schools who was a Methodist lay preacher and he encouraged
me to accept the ministry position. God works in mysterious ways.”
From
ministry with youth Grady began graduate school at Abilene
Christian University in 1978 and in 1979 while on break from graduate
school in College Station, TX met Karen Lipsey and they married in
1979. Grady served as youth minister with the Turnpike Church of
Christ, Grand Prairie, TX (1979-’84). He began his preaching ministry
full time with the Cameron Rd Church of Christ, Austin, TX (1984-’85)
and continued in Muskogee, OK (1985-90). He earned a M.S. in Biblical
and Related Studies (ACU, 1989).
In 1990-’95 he served as preaching
minister for the Mansfield Church of Christ and from 1996-2010 as
Senior Minister and preacher for the So MacArthur Church of Christ,
Irving, TX. While serving with So MacArthur he earned his Doctor of
Ministry (ACU, 2006).
Grady has taught classes and/or spoken on a
variety of lectureships, retreats, camps, revivals and seminars
including Canada, Thailand and Zambia. His kingdom ministry includes
directing Sooner Youth Camp, Lake Murray, OK and serving as V.P. and
co-leader of Hope Network Ministry. HNM is a ministry began by Dr. Lynn
Anderson to mentor and coach ministers and church leaders.
Grady is passionate about how the Gospel is fleshed out in the local
congregation and in the community. Participating in God’s life for the
sake of others defines and motivates his ministry.
He and his wife
Karen have two children: Josh, a graduate of Pepperdine University and
Christin, a graduate of Texas A & M University. Grady enjoys
reading, golf, some fishing, and conversations about what really
matters: faith, hope and love in Jesus Christ.
CHRIS HAYES - YOUTH
MINISTER: [EMAIL: chayes@mansfieldchurch.org]
Chris and Shelly Hayes
met at Lubbock Christian
University and were married in Lancaster, Texas on August 15, 1998.
Chris has served in youth ministry since April, 2000. Shelly serves as
a Licensed Social Worker for Charlton Methodist Hospital and has done
so since February, 2000.
Chris graduated from Lubbock Christian
University with a degree in Business Administration in 1998. Following
graduation, Chris began working for Penson Financial Services in
Dallas, TX. During this time, Chris answered the call to ministry and
began serving as Youth Minister for the Ovilla church in Ovilla, TX
where he served for 6 years. In the fall of 2006, Chris began serving
as Youth Minister at the Mansfield church.
Shelly helps people
in all kinds of circumstances in her role as a Social Worker. She has
been recognized for her outstanding work at Charlton Methodist
Hospital, was also nominated for and serves on the Emerging Leadership
Team. When her job allows her the time to do so, Shelly serves the
Youth Ministry in several ways. Shelly is also involved in helping with
the nursery and Kid’s Crusaders ministry.
Chris and Shelly have
two daughters, Mallory and Morgan. Mallory is 8 and Morgan is 6. Both
girls love to play softball and are involved in gymnastics. Chris and
Shelly love being involved in their girls’ lives. Chris enjoys helping
them with softball, helping out in their classes at school, and just
being “daddy.” Shelly loves to take the girls shopping, swimming, and
taking them out for an occasional vanilla bean frapaccino at Starbuck’s.
Chris
enjoys watching college football (especially Notre Dame!), running
(when he’s not too busy), eating (Italian food... its good.), movies,
softball, and loves being involved in the fast-paced culture of
teenagers. Chris is constantly thinking about relevant ways to share
the good news of Jesus Christ with teens and is always looking to
creatively share the amazing message of God’s love with them. Chris
believes that Youth Ministry must consist of three things – providing
Godly Guidance in the sometimes confusing lives of teens, attempt to
Copy Christ in His perfect model of ministry, and must be Intentionally
Impacting by relating well to teens and their culture.
